Pet sector experiences technological revolution in Brazil

From nanotechnology in pest and fungus treatments to aromatherapy sprays to improve sleep, the market is moving to please increasingly demanding owners

In Brazil, the pet industry is undergoing a transformation. This is influenced by changes in the way pets are cared for and treated by their owners. To stay in the market, companies in the segment are developing products and services that not only improve the health and well-being of pets, but also make the lives of their caregivers more practical and efficient.

Esterizon, for example, a leader in nanotechnology in the ozone sector for pets, has developed an exclusive nanobubble technology, patented by the company. The innovative process allows the incorporation of a much larger quantity of ozone into vegetable oils than is currently available on the domestic market. Ozone has powerful therapeutic properties. “It treats the skin and fur, and combats bacteria, microorganisms and fungi. Bathing with nano-Ozonated water can also help control parasites such as fleas and ticks,” says João Barassal, CEO of the company.

Esterizon’s line of nanOzinated oils includes options such as rosemary, passion fruit, turmeric, pumpkin seed, sunflower and aloe. “Each oil has specific properties: some have analgesic effects, others are healing, among other benefits. The main difference in relation to competing products is the higher peroxidase index in our line, which makes the products significantly more effective,” adds Barassal.

Optonex is another brand that is investing in innovations for the pet sector in Brazil, with the launch of a new product: the OZOOM Laser. This is the world’s first hybrid ozone therapy and phototherapy equipment, combining two of the most effective therapies in a single device. The technology offers advanced therapeutic treatments, enhancing the benefits of ozone therapy – such as reducing platelet aggregation, modulating oxidative stress, and others – and phototherapy, which aids in the recovery process and treatment of various pathologies, such as wound healing, inflammation, and edema.

With an eye on pet well-being, Pet Society, which has been in the market for 20 years, is launching Soft Care Pet Serenity, an aromatherapy spray that helps reduce anxiety and improves pet sleep. With essential oils of Valerian, Ylang Ylang and Lavender, the products provide relaxation and anxiety relief, and can help with adaptation processes and separation syndrome.

Another innovation that is attracting attention in the Brazilian market comes from MyFamily Brasil: the Hushtag Plus identification tag. The product has a QR Code integrated into an app, where the owner enters all the essential information about their pet. If the pet gets lost, anyone who finds it can scan the QR Code and the owner will automatically receive a notification on their cell phone with the animal’s location. The technology increases the safety of pets and offers a practical and modern solution for caregivers, making it easier to quickly locate lost animals.

Advances in the domestic pet market have led to significant improvements in the health, well-being and safety of pets. For this reason, PET South America and PET VET, the main trade shows for the pet and veterinary industries in Latin America, will bring these companies together in one place to present the sector’s trends. The event will be held from July 14 to 16 at São Paulo Expo.

“Companies that focus on innovation are crucial to driving the segment forward. The event will promote the exchange of ideas and technologies, and create opportunities for strategic partnerships, fostering the growth and continuous evolution of the pet market,” explains Guilherme Martinez, director responsible for the fairs. “Collaboration and synergy between players are essential to meet the growing needs of pet owners and ensure the well-being of animals.”
